The fact that most Formula one drivers rate this
as the best track, and Eau Rouge/Raidillon, as the
best corner in the world is just the beginning. Spa
probably demonstrates the importance of driver
skill more than any other in the world. Situated
in a natural bowl deep in the Ardennes Forest, the
original Spa circuit was once a sensational 15,7km
long and formed a triangle that connected the three
villages of Francorchamps, Malmedy and Stavelot. Die Tatsache, dass die meisten Formel-1-Fahrer

Not far away, the city of Spa itself was the “coffee
house” of Europe at the end of the 19th century.
Everyone with money, blue blood or royalty status
gathered there for the famous thermal pools that
gave name to the city. As a playground for the
first cars in the early 1900s, punters drove down
to Francorchamps and started driving circles via
Malmedy and Stavelot. After WW1 in 1920, the
first road race circuit was born as one of the first in
Europe and was first used for Grand Prix racing in
1925. Nicht weit entfernt war die Stadt Spa selbst Ende

Alle mit Geld, blauem Blut oder Adelstitel versam-
melten sich dort zu den berühmten Thermalbädern,
die der Stadt ihren Namen gaben. Als Spielplatz für
die ersten Autos in den frühen 1900er Jahren fuh-
ren die Kunden nach Francorchamps und began-
nen, über Malmedy und Stavelot Rundfahrten zu
machen. Nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg 1920 wurde
die erste Straßenrennstrecke als eine der ersten in
Europa geboren und 1925 erstmals für Grand-Prix-
Rennen genutzt.
