My First RCN Race at the Nürburgring
I ’ ve never felt so nervous about a race before . Even with hundreds of laps ( both driving and instructing ) and hours upon hours in the simulator over the last 6 years - the legendary Green Hell with its heritage , history and tradition make it all feel very serious indeed .
It all seems for nothing as I climb into my race suit and grab my helmet . Even though I ’ m familiar with this BMW M235i Race Car - the layout , the controls , the buttons - I connect to the radio and the first thing I hear is the chief saying “ Have fun . Bring the car back in one piece ”. I know it ’ s intentional but it still makes me incredibly nervous . I start thinking about everything one has to do to get to this point , to finally realise the dream about racing the most challenging track in the world .
The marshall tells me to get to the start line . My concentration is at it ’ s maximum and my attention is on my goal : Finish at least 7th out of 11 starters so I can get the Nordschleife Permit B and race in next months VLN series . I have to suppress the desire to

Niemals zuvor war ich so nervös . Selbst nach hunderten von Runden ( sowohl selbst gefahren als auch als Instruktor ) und zahllosen Stunden im Simulator während der letzten 6 Jahre – die legendäre Grüne Hölle mit all ihren Legenden , Vergangenheit und Traditionen macht das Ganze immer noch sehr respekteinflößend .
Das alles wirkt wie nichts , als ich in meinen Rennanzug steige und meinen Helm nehme . Obwohl ich mit diesem BMW M235i Rennwagen vertraut bin – die Anordnung der Bedienelemente , die Tasten – ich schließe mich an den Funk an und das erste , was ich höre , ist der Chef , der sagt : „ Viel Spaß . Bring das Auto in einem Stück zurück „. Ich weiß , dass das mein Ziel ist , aber es macht mich immer noch unglaublich nervös . Ich denke über alles nach , was ich tun musste , um an diesen Punkt zu kommen , um endlich den Traum vom anspruchsvollsten Kurs der Welt zu verwirklichen .
Der Marshall schickt mich an die Startlinie . Meine Konzentration ist auf dem Höhepunkt und meine Konzentration auf das Ziel fokussiert : Mindestens 7 . Von 11 Startern zu werden , damit ich die Nordschleifen Permit B erreiche und in den nächsten
