Last year Winter disruptions cost 10 days of teaching time at campuses across Fermanagh and Tyrone. Now the education specialist is ‘weatherproofing’ its courses and, as part of the project, almost six thousand students were working from home last week through the internet. During the focused e-learning study week, students were invited to experience the full capability of the system by accessing all course materials remotely. Computer laboratories were also available to anyone with difficulty loggingon and a team of expert advisors were on hand to resolve access related queries. South West College Director, Malachy McAleer said: “The virtual week is the first and only event of its kind in the UK and Ireland. It evidences how South West College is pioneering smart new learning opportunities and working to ensure students receive the best tuition and resources all year round.
