A structured, organized, and analytic lady, Johnson said that before parenthood, she expected life to move on her terms. However, she discovered that her daughter was more creative than
analytical, and their personality differences caused them to
clash.
“I learned that if I wanted to rear a smart [and] confident child, I
had to let her be who she was without trying to change her,”
said Johnson. “I had to learn who she was and cultivate her personality.”
Kenya’s unique personality continued to shine throughout her
childhood. As a child, one year she decided she wouldn’t wear
pants because she believed girls wore dresses.
