VACANT
Heather Sager
My mind is vacant
a sky of blue-flame alcohol
blazed, burning, clean
Thoughts of old well up and subside
I’ve won the effort not to struggle
Today is quiet.
Briefly, in my mind, two warring factions clamor
but in the middle, I stay calm. I am a crest of quiet,
an empty sea.
