Wim is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of
the Leeuwfontein Estates Owners Association.
»» How did you come to be the Chairman of
the estate?
The Kameelfontein Estate is managed by a committee that is elected at the annual general meeting
of owners, and I was re-elected as Chairman of the
estate’s management committee at the 2014 general
meeting.
»» How long have you been the Chairman?
Chairman for three years.
»» How did you come to be the Chairman?
The Board is chosen by the members/residents and
the Board chooses the Chairman.
»» What is your approach to managing the
estate well?
The Board must ensure that the Estate is wellmanaged and that the concerns of the owners are
seen to. This is specifically important for the delivery
of security services and the application of rules to
maintain and protect the owners’ desired lifestyles.
The Board aims to involve as many of the owners
as possible through active committees that manage
various portfolios with proficiency and enthusiasm.
»» What is the biggest concern for you as the
Chairman?
The unpredictability of our current government in
their effort to undermine our lifestyle that is rooted
in the conservation of our environment.
»» What are the top five areas that you
concentrate on in the management of your
estate and how?
1. Security – Own guards on the premises,
trustworthy fencing, good communication and
alarm systems, residents on alert.
2. Administration – Keeping the community
informed and happy.
3. Maintenance – All services, roads, etc. are
maintained by a team of workers under the
supervision of a committee.
4. Aesthetics – A committee ensures that standards
are maintained.
5. Fauna and Flora – A committee ensures that
the ecology is well-managed so we can live in
harmony with the environment.
»» What would you like the residents of your
estate to know about you and what you do?
The Board strives to have the homeowners involved
as much as they can, because an involved and
informed homeowner is a happy resident.
»» How can residents contact you?
Through the admin office.
»» What is your full-time job, if you are not only
the Chairman of the estate?
In my private capacity I serve as a professional
accountant in private practice, and like the other
committee members, I manage the estate on a voluntary and spare time basis. I am married to Louise
and we have two working sons.
