BLACK SAND ROCKNATION ISSUE 22 Interview by Tom Mathers Hello Black Sand and welcome to Rocknation. Congrats to your band on having your thirteenth album titled “Stand Up”. How excited are you to see the fan response to the new CD? Very excited. The style of the music on this CD is going back to the roots of rock. Walter and I have put allot of effort into holding onto the original sound of Black Sand, which our fans love. You must be proud to have completed and released thirteen CDs when most bands break up after one. What is your secret to your success? We both have our normal jobs, Walter as a building expert and I as a welding engineer. Therefore the Band is not always the center of our attention and we gather lots of input and ideas for our music. If you had to tell someone what your band sounded like, what bands would you mention? Walter was always a Rolling Stone fan and I was Beatles fan. Our sound is very individual. Your band had a concert in the Southport Art Centre with members of the London Symphony Orchestra. That is a Elegant arts theatre in a 19th-century building . Please tell us about that concert. The first part of the concert was classical and the second part was rock music from Black Sand. The concert ran under the title “Classic meets Rock”. It was really fun. Your band is from the country Austria, what is the music scene like there. Traditional Austrian music or ballads are very popular. What is some of the music you listen to now? We still like the classics....Queen, Metallica, AC/DC, Tina Turner, and more. What plans do you have for 2016? We are planning the same event again “Classic meets Rock” only in our home country Austria. We are also working on some new songs and videos for Christmas songs. We also write songs for other bands and artists. Thank you for taking time for this interview and last words to the fans? Thanks for the support over the years and “Rock on”.
