ROCKNATION ISSUE 22 Interview by Tom Mathers Hello Danger Angel and welcome to Rocknation. You will be releasing your new album “All the King’s Horses” on Perris Records in 2016. Please tell us about the release on writing and recording process. Hello Rocknation! It’s our third time here and we’re glad it is! Indeed, our new album “All the King’s Horses” will be released 2016 and on Perris Records again, that’s the third album we’re doing together! This album started taking shape as soon as the previous one “Revolutia” finished. Several of the songs in this new one were written during the European tour in 2013, they were worked on after that and during the year and a half that followed, they had to be rearranged and restructured in parts because of the new singer, of course. They were recorded in our own studio this time and the band did the whole production thing this time around. We are now mixing and mastering the new songs at Steve Lado’s studios, he’s a very talented young producer/engineer here in Athens, Greece, you’d better check him out. This album will contain the best music Danger Angel ever made, by far. It’s the kind of evolution we had in mind when getting down to changing our style for “Revolutia” and we’re extremely proud of it! You have a new singer to join the band what has he brought to the band in sound and image and how did you find him? Photo by: Ron Boudreau Yea, BJ is the new singer and he’s awesome. He’s such a gifted singer but even more he’s an extremely gifted musician as a whole. He’s not only one of the best vocalists out there competing with the best, he’s also a great guitar and bass player and an astonishing keyboard player as well. He’s brought all of this with him, his influence is immense and his performances will amaze you! We met BJ during the European tour in 2013, he’s the guitar and keyboards player for Jeff Scott Soto and his projects, he’s also the singer for the Brazilian band Tempestt and he has a solo thing going on too. When we started looking for a new singer, there wasn’t any other alternative really. He was the man and we’re elated he hopped aboard and helped us make this new album so fantastic! Oh, he’s a blonde too haha! Please tell us about your shows in the last year. There was only a handful of shows last year. With the singer situation and the new album in production we decided we’d better wait until we have something new and exciting to present, than going around with a new singer and old songs. The songs from the previous albums will be a good part of our show when we finally get on the road again but those new songs we are about to unleash are so good that it would be a pity to go out without them. So expect Danger Angel to rush out in 2016 with a new killer show and a new kickass album. Everytime I see the news about Greece it is about the financial situation, how is the music scene now in Greece? Yes, the financial situation in Greece is a main news item for years now around the world. It’s actually worse than how it’s described by the networks and we touched that subject heavily in our previous album. It was actually the album concept. Things have not gotten any better since that time. the music scene here follows the rule that says that in times of turmoil and unrest, the arts flourish. The music scene is Greece is at its best and some amazing new bands are coming out. It’s all very active and it’s thriving and if people choose to explore it a little bit more, they could find so many great artists to relate to and be inspired by.
