Gala Night under Peruvian Sky

On the night of March 22, 2010, Lima was dressed up to welcome a band integrated by some of the best musicians in the world, who brimmed over with technique and virtuosity in a concert that will surely be remembered for a long time.

James La Brie, John Petrucci, John Myung, Jordan Rudess and Mike Portnoy are the members of Dream Theater, the progressive metal band that without a doubt offered us, technically and musically speaking, the best concert that Lima has ever seen. It is not the overwhelming force of Metallica, neither the impressive paraphernalia of KISS, nor the interpretive force of Iron Maiden, but Dream Theater has its own thing, and that is called 'quality'.

The concert began about 9:45 pm with the chords of the soundtrack of the film 'Psycho' and while the curtain was falling, "A Nightmare to Remember" started. That song immediately sparked public euphoria. It includes some grunts interpreted by Mike Portnoy.

The next song was the excellent and forceful "A Rite of Passage", linking with a first solo from Petrucci playing the theme from the movie "Schindler's List". "Hollow Years" was the next one, giving a little calm to the audience, and giving the chance to admire the quality of interpretation of the band; they took up some power again with "Constant Motion"-a very heavy song, Metallica-style.
