ou have been working in the Rixos Group and in
the hospitality industry for quite some time now.
Can you tell us why you chose this industry for your
career and how your paths crossed with Rixos?
I was born in Istanbul, on 14th February, 1968. I played volleyball
professionally for 16 years. However, the sportsman’s life requires
a certain dynamism that I just couldn’t maintain, thus I ended my
professional volleyball career shortly after I entered into the 1st league.
I will always love volleyball, however. Around that time, my wife was
working in the tourism sector and I decided to also pursue opportunities
in that field. I completed my Master’s Degree in Tourism and Hotel
Management at Akdeniz University. Currently, I am working on my
thesis. I have been in this sector that I love for 22 years. I first met with
Rixos Hotels in 2003. I was extremely delighted to be able to work
on the projects of this young group with high goals. I had to leave the
group to work on my personal projects at one point though. Eventually I
returned and have now been working with Rixos, the only international
hotel chain of Turkey, for 11 years. Right now, I work as the General
Manager of “The Land of Legends Theme Park”.

Uzun yıllardır Rixos bünyesinde ve otelcilik sektöründe çalışıyorsunuz. Kariyerinizde bu sektörü seçmenizin sebeplerini ve Rixos ile yollarınızın nasıl kesiştiğini bizlere anlatır
mısınız?
14 Şubat 1968, İstanbul doğumluyum. 16 yıl profesyonel olarak
voleybol oynadım ancak spor hayatı belli bir yaş ve dinamizme ihtiyaç
duyduğu için 1. Lig’den sonra profesyonel spor hayatıma ara vermeye
karar verdim ama voleybola hep aşk ile bağlı kalacağım. Eşim, turizm
sektöründe çalışıyordu ben de bu nedenle turizme yöneldim. Akdeniz
Üniversitesi Turizm İşletmeciliği ve Otelcilik Yüksek Lisans programını tamamladım ve bu dönem tezimi yazıyorum. 22 yıldır, sevdiğim
bu sektör içerisindeyim. 2003’de Rixos Hotels ile tanıştım. Genç ve
gelecek hedefleri yüksek olan bu grubun projelerinde çalışmaya başlamak, benim için çok büyük bir mutluluk idi. 2 yıl kendi işimi yapmak
için gruptan ayrıldım ve bu dönemin ardından tekrar geri döndüm.
11 yıldır Türkiye’nin tek uluslararası zinciri olan Rixos bünyesinde
çalışıyorum. Şu an “The Land of Legends Theme Park”ın genel müdürü olarak mesleğime devam ediyorum.
