SHREWSBURY
Continued from front page…. As previously reported,
Shrewsbury’s long association with the elite Oxford and
Cambridge universities continues with offers in Engineering and Musical disciplines, whilst offers from some
of the most prestigious US colleges such as NYU, Berkley, Cornell, Brown and UPenn’s Wharton Business
School underline both Shrewsbury’s reputation for academic excellence, and the value that the world’s top universities place on the internationally recognised A-level
programmes that are offered at the School.
In keeping with previous years, the majority of applications have focused on North America, the UK and Thailand. Multiple offers have been received from perennial
US favourites Northeastern, UCLA and Washington, and
with a number first choice offers to the likes of Imperial
College, King’s College, and London School of Economics, we are also likely to see a typically large contingent
of Shrewsbury graduates continuing their studies in the
British capital. Offers to other popular UK destinations
include Durham, Edinburgh, Bristol, Warwick, Nottingham, Manchester, Sheffield and Southampton whilst
Medical and Dentistry places head the offers to Thailand’s Thammasat and Srinakharinwirot Universities.
With the support of Shrewsbury’s dedicated Higher Education team, students are encouraged to think very carefully about which course and which university provides
the best “fit” for them. Over the years, this has seen an
increasing diversification in university choice and an increasing emphasis on vocational studies. Arts and design based offers include School of the Art Institute of
Chicago, Pratt and the Rhode Island School of Design
(RISD), Theatre and Performance Studies at Warwick,
Composition at the Royal Academy of Music and even
Game Design and Development at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Equipped with transferable research, debating and analytical skills that have been honed through Shrewsbury’s
bespoke critical thinking programme, Reading the
World, we have also seen a greater number of students
being accepted at top liberal arts institutions such as
TUFTS and Oberlin and for the first time this year, the
top-ranking Californian college, Pomona, member of the
highly regarded Claremont consortium. Meanwhile
Patrathorn (Tul) Puntuyakorn completes another first for
Shrewsbury by securing two offers to study Veterinary
Science at Bristol and Edinburgh.
We are extremely proud of our talented, ambitious and
internationally-minded young leaders, and look forward
to following their progress with great interest.
