A. (Joyce)-- Communication and respect for
everyone’s special talent is key.
(Dave)-- I sit back and listen to all ideas.
(Marie)-- We are mindful of our individual
strengths and weaknesses, and when all else
fails, I call “puppies” (our own safe word).
Q. 1. Dave, I understand you are the one in
the family that first got interested in beading!
Please explain how it is that you got involved
first. What did you like most about beading?
A. Picked up wirework
when I was in College
to impress my girlfriend.
Looks like my earrings
worked – we’ve been married for 44 years!
Q. 2. How long did it
take to get other family
members involved?
A. Too long! Joyce found
my hidden treasure box of
wire and beads when she
was a teenager, and we’ve
been beading ever since.
Q. 3. How long were
you beading together as
a family before you decided to start your own
bead shop?
A. Joyce and I were beading together for a few
years before Marie and April jumped in with the
idea of opening our shop. They thought a bead
shop would be a great way to work together as a
family, and they were right!
Q. 4. You know, I’m sure, that you are to be
congratulated for your ability as a group to
avoid conflict and actually pull together to
successfully establish ‘Just Bead It’. How
did you do it?
(April)— Humor! At the end of the day, I
couldn’t imagine working with anyone else, so I
strive to keep us laughing.
Q. 5. What different aspect of
bead jewelry making do each of
you individually excel in?
A. April enjoys beadweaving and
color design, Joyce’s passion is
wirework, Marie loves to design
around her favorite beads, and
Dave still enjoys making wire earrings.
Q. 6. Have any of you received
awards or recognition for bead
jewelry making and or design?
Please give details?
A. April was recognized as a Top
10 Starman Trendsetter for her
Pentagon necklace.
True reward for us though is watching our many students and customers excel in their projects.
Q. 8. Who is the chief instructor in ‘Just
Bead It’?
A. Joyce, with over 15 years of teaching experience, she is super knowledgeable, skilled, and
patient, and has helped hundreds of beaders find
their passion in beading.
