FEATURE STORY : JAKE ALLEN

“ I think that ’ s similar to investing in yourself in business . There are always little details that you invest in yourself to achieve those goals .” miss dearly .”

It ’ s been some time since Murph Allen left the world of insurance . He retired at sixty-two , which he looks back on as “ much too early .” Although every grandfather doesn ’ t have a grandson in the NHL , Murph sounds like every grandfather when he talks about Jake .
“ I ’ m prejudiced , of course , but he ’ s an awfully nice young man . He ’ s very modest . If he has a good game and you try to tell him he had a good game , he ’ ll give credit to somebody else . He ’ s a great community citizen . And he doesn ’ t know how to say no ,” said Murph . “ I watch all his games and even if they go well , I ’ m nervous . I don ’ t think I am , but I obviously am because I take quite a while to go to sleep afterward .”
Allen , twenty-six and on the other end of professional life from his grandfather , only hopes that he can emulate the examples his grandfather has set for him .
“ He ’ s very appreciative of others and what they do for him . I think that ’ s something that he taught his kids , my father and my aunt , and they preach the same qualities ,” said Jake . “ Be very thankful of what others give you , be honest , and show your appreciation for others .” +
