R & Learning, Developing, Getting Involved B The New Brunswick Insurance Women Association BY: KATHERINE TONER, PRESIDENT, NEW BRUNSWICK INSURANCE WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION O ne of the newest members of the Canadian Association of Insurance Women (CAIW), The New Brunswick Insurance Women’s Association (NBIWA), promotes education, personal development, and networking amongst insurance professionals in New Brunswick. The NBIWA, which was founded by its current president, Katherine Toner, in 2013, has seen steady growth and tremendous support amongst the industry. Membership in the NBAIW is diverse, and it is not solely comprised of women either. NBIWA has male and female members from across the province, and with a variety of backgrounds including business development managers, underwriters, brokers, adjusters, lawyers, engineers, and property restoration specialists. As a lawyer for Foster & Company, an insurance litigation boutique situated in Fredericton, Ms. Toner saw the need for an association which would bring insurance professionals together in the spirit of education, networking and personal development.
