KCON 2017 NY

By Rin Sanada | June 28, 2017

Soooo, even though the title of this post says KCON NY…it’s really about me and a bunch of KMs chasing after Kevin the entire time. LOL! I did get to experience some of KCON though and this experience made me want to experience it fully next time. But I can’t say I didn’t have fun. I made friends and met Kevin Woo in the process. So here’s my story….

D00 Wednesday, June 21, 2017 – Although Kcon officially starts on June 23rd, I’m starting with my 1st day in Newark, New Jersey. I had to leave at 3am CST to get to the airport. However, I had issues with my uber and lyft apps. I got to the airport in just enough time to check in and check my bags. I had maybe 20 minutes before we had to board. I had never been on a plane before so I thought I would be nervous. But strangely I wasn’t. So I got on board and it was ‘cramped’ to the max. I got a window seat, which I was grateful to have. I didn’t fall asleep though. I was too amped to be going to NJ, to see Kevin at Kcon NY. So I got to Newark, NY about 5 hours before my roommate only to find out that I couldn’t check in without some form she had to fill out because the room was being paid for by her. So I just loafed around the hotel and ended up in a lounge area and fell asleep because I couldn’t stay awake for nothing in the world. I think I finally relaxed after eating something and that’s why I couldn’t stay awake…that or jet lag. Anyway, I woke up and asked the desk clerk if they could keep my bags. I went to the airport to pick up my roomie because she was hurt and needed help. The airport helped her but they only had one person help out. So I’m glad I did go when I did and I was excited to meet her for the first time since we only talked in Twitter most of the time. So we got to the hotel, chilled out, did a little shopping then unpacked. I was scared I might snore, but it turns out I don’t and I only talk in my sleep. LOL!

D01Thursday, June 22, 2017 – I totally slept like a log and we got up to go check out the location for the KCON and met up with some KISSME friends from Twitter. It was great meeting everyone, although we didn’t meet everyone this day, we would all meet up tomorrow when we checked into KCON and got our wrist bands. We had made plans to go to KLUB KON that evening, but a few of us didn’t make it and some of the girls found the location of Kevin’s interview, so we stayed at the location until the interview started. It was amazing how many people ended up there with us. It was so funny because people kept giving Kevin notes through the window. He even came to the window and recognized those of us that were right at the glass. I was shocked he even knew who I was. Well, we got some videos of it but not much of that part. After he left we said our goodbyes and made plans for the next day and went back to the hotel. Once we got back to the hotel, we met up with some more KM Twitter friends and made plans for the next day.D02Friday, June 23, 2017 – I slept so good that I woke up late, me and my roommate. So we had to rush to get ready and get to KCON NY to get in line for the entrance to the KCON where Kevin would have his Meet & Greet. It was darling just like him. I think he had the loudest screams for a fan meeting there at the KCON. After the M&G we wandered around a bit trying to get his schedule so we could be where he was at the KCON. We found out that he would do something the next day in the afternoon so we left the KCON and went back to the hotel and chilled out a bit.D03Saturday, June 24, 2017 – Again we woke up late, but it was okay because the thing with Kevin was in the afternoon, so we left for the KCON and went to find out about Kevin. We found out we had to take a picture and Tweet or post it on Instagram to get a chance to meet Kevin. At the time we didn’t know we would be taking a photo. We left and went to the hotel for a while and did our Tweets. Then about and hour before we went back to KCON we found out we won a chance to meet Kevin. Me and my roommate both were shocked. We hurried back to the KCON to a large crowd where Kevin would be at and where we would meet him. Then we met Kevin and got to take snap shot pictures and also a picture with our own phones. I had some gifts so I went to give it to his ‘manager’ and found out it was his sister, so I got to take a picture with her as well. We then found out that he would be hosting the Red Carpet event the next day. One of the KM that was staying at the same hotel as me had gotten an extra ticket by accident and let me go with her to the concert. So I got a chance to see KNK which I only know one or two songs, but I found out about some ‘new’ groups and loved their performances. I was on the floor so I got some good video footage as did my friend. We left for the hotel and chilled out a bit before we all went to bed.D04Sunday, June 25, 2017 – Ok, so we got up late again. We made it to KCON then had to go back to the hotel to change clothes. I forget why. Then while in line for the Red Carpet I went to play the game that Kevin was hosting for the Olympics and PyeongCheong and then got back to the line for the Red Carpet event, which didn’t even matter because once security checked our stuff, people just ran to the front. I lost my Twitter Friends for a while but we met back up after the event. I was going to the concert again but because I can’t stand that long the line did a number on my feet and so I had to get a wheel chair and we had to give up our floor seats for balcony seats, which weren’t bad, but we both needed the rest. The concert was wonderful and I didn’t expect to scream at CNBLUE but I did….all through their performance. I screamed so much that I lost my voice the next day. Overall the KCON was great. I met great people and had fun and attended the concerts when I didn’t intend to in the first place. So if you have a chance check out KCON next year.
