Baptist Health Richmond Since becoming part of the Baptist Health system in 2012, your community hospital has experienced many improvements and service expansions including the 2016 completion of a major facility renovation. Th e renovation, part of a bigger initiative to improve the overall patient experience, is the most visible part of our journey to meet the healthcare needs of the community. In 2017, the improvements made at Baptist Health Richmond were reinforced by the receipt of a number of awards and accolades, including being named among the Top 10 percent in the Nation for Patient Safety; awarded an “A” for Patient Safety and Quality from the Leapfrog Group; named 2017 Business of the Year 26 Richmond Chamber of Commerce by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce; designated as a Pathway to Excellence Hospital for Nursing Excellence; and being recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky. Th ese awards are recognition of the organization’s commitment to our patients, staff , and community. As your community hospital, Baptist Health Richmond has engaged the community in a number of initiatives and we demonstrate our support to the citizens of our region through professional health education, fi nancial donations, and community involvement. Every decision has been based on what is best for the patients and community. In 2017 alone, Baptist Health Richmond expanded services to include advanced heart care where primary and life- saving cardiac interventions are performed locally; relocated and expanded cancer care to the hospital campus; launched a bariatric surgery program; and implemented an opioid stewardship committee focused on helping to reduce the use and misuse of opioids in our community. Baptist Health contributes more than $400,000 in health professions education by providing clinical space to local colleges and university students, nearly $50,000 in community health improvement services and more than $20 million in total community benefi t support each year. Baptist Health is the defi nition of a community asset.
