~ What inspired you to write your book?

I had the privilege of co-authoring Step Forward and Shine! the third and final book in the Shine series and when I was presented the opportunity to write my story, I was inspired to do so because I thought about how when I was younger I wish I could have met a woman like myself that would have told me things were going to be alright. After prayerful consideration, I knew writing this book was something that I was called to do.

~ Tell us more about it.

In this book I share some of the many challenges I encountered in my life, ranging from physical and emotional abuse, homelessness, career woes to moving abroad, and later suffering through a difficult pregnancy with my firstborn son. The book also

touches on poignant subjects such as the power of forgiveness, self-esteem, and blossoming into the person you were meant to be. I firmly believe that there is something there for everyone, especially my ‘Wildflowers’. We all beautiful like flowers in a garden, but don’t overlook the wildflowers as I mention in the book. Ultimately, the book is about me learning how to overcome many challenges, learning what my purpose is and stepping into my purpose powerfully and with boldness to help empower others to do the same.

~ What do you want others to get out of this book?

I want the readers to know they can overcome obstacles, made stronger by the struggle, and love themselves for who they truly are, not what others may think of them.
