It’s time to come out from behind the disguise and masks to face the facts…you are who you are and your gifts are your gifts…no one else can deliver what you are designed to deliver… so you better show up!

One of my truths is that I had a diagnosis of Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) breast cancer…twice. It is non-invasive (stage 0), but it is breast cancer. “Ductal” means “related to the milk ducts” and “in situ” means “in place.” With DCIS, the cancer cells are contained within the milk ducts and the cancer cells have not invaded nearby breast tissue. I did not loose my hair, have to take harsh drugs or suffer through long procedures.

I am very lucky. I am very healthy.

I am very grateful. Every new day is a gift and I do not intend to waste a minute. I have big dreams and even bigger plans to carry out those dreams.

Guess what? Those plans and dreams are not for me…they are for YOU! Everywhere women are wearing the mask of complacency and resignation because you are not able to speak up for yourselves.

It’s time to stop stuffing your truth, unmask and let your voice be heard. Unleash the story only you can share.

There’s something more you know you need to be doing…not kinda wanna…not wouldn’t it be nice…not one of these days I’ll get around to it…no, need to be doing. And if you don’t do it, the people who are supposed to benefit from your efforts will never receive your talent.

What do you say? Yes, I realize this may be more trick than treat the day after Halloween. Let’s take it a little slow and not rip the disguise off all at once. Start by

sitting down with your journal for a short writing session…say 15 minutes…to ponder what unmaking your truth would look like. Keep up the exercise for 21 days and see where it takes you.

Are you ready to unmask and reveal the hidden YOU?

Unmask your potential…step out and shine.

As we gather together at this special time of year, I’m sending you these words of cheer…

May your days be merry and bright! Christmas in California is certainly different than my childhood in Minnesota. No snow to shovel, or cold temperatures to cause us to dash from car to shopping mall. Christmas baking and a real tree are cherished traditions I continue to enjoy.

Excitement is in the air...are your stockings hung by the chimney with care? Growing up, we never had a real fireplace, so we never did it. Now, I wouldn't miss a year where we hang up our stockings.

Remember those loved ones you hold near and dear...though far away the sights and sounds of past Christmases are crystal clear. Grandma's house was holiday central when I was a little girl. Our extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and special family friends came together. These days although we are spread from coast to coast, we have that connection to our past and foundation for our future.

Reindeer games? Will you be joining in any special activities? Every year Sacred Heart Elementary put on a Christmas pageant...I was Mary several years. I don't know if it was type casting (Mary the shy, quiet one) or if I could be spared from the choir because my voice although enthusiastic was less than melodic.

Young and the-young-at-heart sharing stories around the table or tree. My daughter started dance class at age 3. That was also the year I took her to a matinee performance of The Nutcraker. I couldn't keep her in her seat and she happily danced in the aisle along with the Sugarplum Fairy. It is one of my favorite memories of Christmas.

Do you have a favorite holiday memory?

Do you have a special treasure you received as a holiday gift?

I'd love to hear all about it...Please share...
