Day 5: A fortress between Spain and Portugal

The landscape is incredibly beautiful: small villages, steep mountain slopes and clear water streams.

Further on, in a vibrant and colourful market, we stop and fill ourselves with vitamins. In the afternoon, after 40 km, we arrive at Valença and find our hotel. From the old fortress on the river Minho , you can see Spain.

Day 6: Rias Baixas, land of the fjords

Goodbye Portugal!

We take our bicycles and go north, towards the region of Galicia. The landscape changes: fragrant forests, granite rocks and then the sight of the deep blue of the Atlantic.

Everywhere we find the symbol of the Trail of Saint James: the shell of the yellow scallop.

After 49 km, we arrive at the charming historical centre of Pontevedra, a small town located in a fjord. The region of Galicia is famous for its tapas, especially Galician octopus.

Day 7: Through the picturesque landscape of Padrón

Riding our bikes through the green nature of Galicia, we have a very unique view of the Camino de Santiago. Our bike trip now becomes a gourmet trip, since the destination of the day is the small town of Padron. The Padrón peppers, roasted and seasoned with sea salt, are a delight to the palate. Sparkling cider at night improves our mood even further!

Day 8: Santiago de Compostela: the very dreamed destination of the pilgrims

The great myth: Santiago de Compostela! Today we will get there: only 25 km more.

The green wonderland of Galicia makes us full of expectation, as we are getting close to the destination of our pilgrimage: the famous city of Santiago de Compostela! Churches, crosses, statues, columns and palaces of grey granite!
