INTRODUCTION
Thank you for taking the time to “Rewire.” Technology is an inescapable part of our lives. Although
technology has always been part of human history, the current rapid increase in the availability of technology in the developed world is creating new challenges. In addition, the seemingly all-encompassing
nature of technology can be overwhelming.
“There has been more technological improvement in the last 50 years than in the previous 5,000,” according to Patrick Cox, co-editor of Technology Profits Confidential. “Since you and I have been trained
to think in linear terms, this isn’t necessarily intuitive. However, a careful examination of history reveals
that the rate of technological change…accelerates over time. Due to this exponential rate of improvement, we are actually only seeing the beginning of disruptive, transformational changes in technology.”
However, God knew about all these developments long ago and I believe that the Bible has a lot to say
about technology, which is what we will be discussing during this series as we attempt to rewire our
lives to God’s truth.
The Rewire series is designed to provide you with a theological foundation for technology. In addition,
the notes and discussion questions in this guide will provide you with questions that will help you begin
to work out the practical implications in your own life. The guide is designed for use in community
groups so that you can discuss these issues with trusted friends as we strive together to bring all areas
of our lives under the authority of the Bible and the control of the Holy Spirit.
Since this is a spiritual issue, I also encourage you to be praying throughout this series that God will
allow you to hear what He is speaking directly to your situation. Together we can live faithfully in a
technological world.
