Thank you for taking time to think about issues related to technology both in your
own life and in the lives of your family members. Each Parent Corner will have
three sections. The first section, “Parenting Principle,” will help us look at our parenting through the theme of the teaching session. The second section, “Engaging Your Child,” will provide some ways you can have a conversation with your
child(ren) about technology. Finally, the third section, “Parent Heart Questions,”
provides probing questions to help you think about how you use technology in
your own life.

Parenting Principle:
HOPE AND COMFORT

As parents, we seek to teach our children that ultimately the only
trustworthy source of hope and comfort is Jesus.
1. How does technology impact how you soothe or comfort your
children?

2. How does technology allow you to prevent the consequences of
poor choices your children make (example: downloading forgotten homework
for them)?

My sense is that
for the first time in
history, it is a subject where parents
have the sickness
in common with the
children; whereas,
when we think back
to previous generations and their parenting topics, those
were topics where
kids had different
interests from their
parents.”
