Revive - A Quarterly Fly Fishing Journal (Volume 1. Issue 4. Spring 2014) | Page 132

Throughout April the run winds down and the crowds leave with the fish. For those who like to swing flies this can be an excellent time to get back on the steelhead rivers one last time. After fish spawn they will retreat to deep water to re-fuel. They start to take on their chrome appearance once again and these fish, known as drop backs, are some of the hardest hitting hardest fighting fish of the year. It is only fitting that the spring season ends much the way it began…fishing in solitude for the brightest fish in the river. The cycle is complete and the rivers fall quiet for another year until the chrome comes home.
