Complexity is a good thing. It turns to complication when it’s slamming you in the face the minute you wake up after not enough sleep with a full day of parental responsibilities, deadlines at work, a death in the family and rush hour traffic. Living deliberately helps cut through those never ending complications...it simplifies things. It helps you see the rich complexity that shapes your life in positive ways.

Making art and fishing does this for me. It helps me respect the complexity in my life, and navigate the complications. It enables me to truly appreciate my family, friends, and those good beers.

Lynyrd Skynyrd said it best, “ …be a simple kind of man, be something you love and understand…”.

F**king right on.
