Who is that guy with all the tattoos that makes the cool tshirts and stuff? That was the question that popped in to my head a few years ago when I first saw some pictures of Danny Reed and his crooked creek holler brand. Now it turns out, im headed to asheville in a week to have him finish my half sleeve fishing related piece and his clothes dot hangers in my simms and patagucci driven closet. Turns out Danny is a rad dude with some amazingly creative designs, a passion for fly fishing, and a gracious personality that leaves most people wanting to chat (more than he has time for!) I sent a few questions over to Danny to see how his career and passions have intermingled over the past few years.

How and when did you start your fly fishing journey ?

I've been fishing on and off for most of my life, but I started fly fishing around 4 years ago. After my first time, I became fully addicted. I met a local guide through a friend here in Asheville. We did a float trip down the Watauga river for trout, and I've been obsessed ever since.

What connections did you draw between your art and fly fishing?

I've always been into art and wildlife since I was a kid. The more I got into fly fishing, the more it started to show itself through my art. Every new species I catch, inspires new artwork and design.
