insight
We should seek to be continually filled
Being filled with the Spirit is not a once-
for-all experience. It is true that we should
be able to point to an experience with
God when we were initially baptised in
the Spirit. But a relationship with the Spirit
is meant to be an ongoing experience
(Ephesians 5:18). This means that we
are to constantly yield our lives to Him and
His influences in our lives. The Holy Spirit
wants to take over and direct the whole of
our lives. He wants to lead us closer and
closer to Jesus, to reveal more and more
of the Word to us and to make us more
like Jesus every day. The coming of the
Holy Spirit in our lives is like opening
a deep river on the inside that is intended
to flow out of our lives into the barren,
needy and hurting world (John 7:38).
“THE COMING OF THE HOLY
SPIRIT IN OUR LIVES IS LIKE
OPENING A DEEP RIVER ON
THE INSIDE THAT IS INTENDED
TO FLOW OUT OF OUR LIVES
INTO THE BARREN, NEEDY
AND HURTING WORLD”

Practical pointers
KTLCC cell leaders, primary leaders,
pastors and members of the ministry
team are trained and ready to pray with
you to receive the Holy Spirit, just ask!
Some guidelines on praying
to receive the Spirit:
1 Begin with a prayer of
thanksgiving, remember that
you already have the Holy Spirit
dwelling within.
2 Enter into a prayer of consecration
and submission, as a result of which
they can submit themselves to the
control of the Holy Spirit.
3 Pray for empowering, if a leader
is praying for you they will do this
with the laying on of hands. The
power of the Holy Spirit must be
released through you for the work of
effective service – witnessing with the
supernatural ability of the Holy Spirit.
4 Pray that you might speak in
tongues. Remember that although
you do the speaking, the Spirit does
the enabling. A good example is Peter
walking on the water. He had to step
out and do what he had not done
before. When he did, it was Peter who
did the walking, but it was the Lord
who gave him the supernatural ability
to walk on the water. ❖
