Abstract Currently renewable and non-renewable natural resources are limited on the planet, due to several actions that cause global warming and hence climate change. In this sense, the objective was to analyze the impact of global warming on water supplies, placing the resource as a fundamental element of international geopolitics. A documentary design, descriptive was used as data collection technique tonnage and bibliographic content analysis was used earlier sources. The results showed that the temperature levels on earth have risen and that warming is drying reserves of fresh water, they reach only 3% of the total resource. It was concluded that fresh water becomes a strategic element and a resource of vital interest to the countries at the beginning of this century, so that the integrated management thereof is required.
