ABSTRACT
This is a study of literature review that covers the history and epidemiology of
psychoactive substances (drugs), from the definition of drugs it is present in society and
which are used in the study will address the four categories that classify psychoactive
substances and the three groups that divide them in relation to neurological effect.
Presents ways to identify the use, suggests ways to prevent and combat the use and
dependence. Focuses on the issue of treatment of alcohol and illicit drugs, especially
crack, how does the social rehabilitation of addicts after treatment, and focuses on
public policy in particular the Center for Psychosocial Assistance - alcohol and drugs
(CAPS-AD). Find more coherent way of dealing with these substances, through policies
and actions that after analyzing the pros and cons are as effective as possible, with
benefits to the bio, psycho, social and employment.
