Emma Kidd is an Australian artist, illustrator, printmaker and photographer with a degree in Fine Art. She remembers quizzes on colors and three-minute poses in life drawing. She majored in photography and printmaking, but also studied textiles and design. With such a diverse range of techniques, it is no surprise that Emma spends most of her time creating things in one medium or another.
We found Emma in her Etsy shop, Benconservato, but she has many online entities showcasing a variety of her projects. Some are large, mural-size. But what caught our attention was her series of prints, paintings and doll-like characters.
It is clear that she likes monsters and dreamscapes, especially those that conjure the sea. She paints her Russian-style nesting dolls with delicate, flowing patterns – icebergs floating in black waves, golden seaweed, fish scales and paper boats.
