“All is born casually.” - Arianna

As the two friends experimented with what they had learned, they realized they could create objects of great craftsmanship and value. Every piece of Raku pottery is unique. The signature metallic shine and intense crackle effect cannot be replicated.

The Raku pieces you see here are the products of their work together as Bottega Krua.

Arianna and Giada form their raw clay pieces in a private home workspace. They create ceramic bowls, vases, plates, and coffee mugs. They also make jewelry from ceramic shards. The firing and glazing of the clay is done at a community studio where they share kiln, tools and other supplies.

The process is risky. Thermal shock of cold water on the hot clay can cause larger pieces to shatter. They typically lose about 10% of their work in this way.

“Each time a piece is broken we are always disappointed, but we know that it can happen.”
