Journeys

by Diana Zwinak

You

have always looked for completion,

wanted to arrive,

held a destination in mind,

looked for rest.

What if I told you . . .

The journey is all we have.

There is no destination.

Places wear away

disintegrate,

fall into disrepair . . .

That permanence

is a passing dream?

What if I told you . . .

To dream big.

Little dreams are just as difficult

and no easier to reach.

Reach for what you want:

not what you think you want.

Not what you think

you will be allowed to have.

What if I told you . . .

Your heart will heal.

Not all at once,

not like magic,

not because of anyone else,

but because it is

a living thing,

a beautiful blossom.

Because Springtime always

comes around,

and someday
