for women who are team players and
understand the ‘why’ behind Mavenly
+ Co., and that’s really the criteria,”
Kate and Tallia say. “We find when
women are working toward a mission
they can support, they are incredibly
productive and solve problems and
overcome obstacles with confidence.”
The two co-founders say the next
step for Mavenly is to bring the
conversation to companies by working
with organizations who want to invest
in their young women employees,
and provide on-site training that will
help build a bridge between managers
and their millennial team members.
“Particularly when it comes to
retaining millennials in the workplace,
we want to make sure managers
understand what young employees
need to feel engaged and fulfilled at
work, and how to have conversations
about how to make the workplace
work for everyone.”
While Tallia is from the Atlanta area,
Kate’s a recent transplant from New
Orleans. She says she was excited to
find Atlanta Social Club because she
didn’t know many people here, but
she was able to make weekend plans
with new ASC friends very quickly
after joining the group, and the other
members have gone out of their way
Kate at Switchyards
to make her feel at home.
In fact, Tallia and Kate say the
local Atlanta community has been
welcoming in many ways, including
on the startup community side.
“General Assembly was gracious
enough to sponsor our local
workshop and provide their space
for Maven Masterclass, and WeWork
Buckhead hosted our happy hours
and lunch and learns this summer.
Hypepotamus has also be an
invaluable resource for connecting
us with relevant events in the city
and spotlighting our company and
services,” Kate and Tallia explain.
“We love ...
to empower
individuals to
pursue work
that they love
and build the
mindset and
skills they need
to get to where
they want to be.”
“We love working with groups like these
because we have congruent missions
and values — to empower individuals
to pursue work that they love and build
the mindset and skills they need to
get to where they want to be. Last but
certainly not least, being a part of the
Switchyards community has connected
us with so many like-minded individuals
who have been generous in both time
and resources. Going into work every
day at SDC inspires us and motivates us
to keep going.”
If Mavenly sounds like a resource you
may need, Kate and Tallia suggest
checking out their blog and their
weekly podcast, called “Women, Work
and Worth.” You can also find them at
the next ASC event; they love making
new friends, and always want to know
more about how they can help young
women craft their career paths.
As Kate and Tallia say, “If you’re looking
to create a career you love, build
intentional habits to achieve your
goals, and negotiate effectively and
with confidence, Mavenly is the place
for you.”
