fact that women were just lacking information on the post-graduate life conversation , and decided that they “ needed to come together as a community and be a voice for women with big dreams , but real needs — women who are caught in a constant battle between ambition and anxiety .” And Mavenly + Co . was born .
Being an entrepreneur and starting your own company can be a hard step to take . Kate and Tallia say their friends and families inspired them to do what they truly enjoyed and allowed them to focus on what gave them energy , and that support has been essential for their success . They also worked to identify mentors in their space , building out a personal board of advisors who care about their growth personally and professional . These advisors are different for each of them ; since they both bring something different to the business , they have found that they should also rely on different mentors for feedback and advice .
With nearly ten employees , regular workshops all over the country , a plethora of contributors , features in publications like Forbes , a thriving social media presence and an incredibly popular podcast , the twoyear-old company certainly defines “ success .” Though there are some potential competitors in the digital space and for large-scale conferences , such as Levo League , Her Agenda or Brit + Co ., they don ’ t offer the twoday crafting workshops that Mavenly specializes in . “ We focus on intimate weekends that dig deep into the personal needs of our attendees ,” Kate and Tallia explain .
Mavenly also makes workshop location selections on cities where they already have an engaged community of mavens , based on data for podcast subscribers and blog repeat visitors . This ensures that when they announce a workshop , interest is already high . They then reach out to partner organizations in the area for promotion , logistics and social media . Additionally , many women attend the workshops because friends in other cities who had attended previously recommended it ( a recent workshop in Austin had a 25 percent referral rate , in fact ).
