REVEAL Q3 2016 | Page 13

Just one year ago Fast forward to July 2016, I was lucky enough to go home to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and train with some college and professional football players for a week. I found myself surrounded by these amazing guys who were not only athletic, but had amazing heart and determination to succeed. Everyday consisted of two workouts, 2-3 showers, 2-3 outfits’ changes and zero makeup. Not the normal way to celebrate a birthday but I was in heaven! The guys might not ever know the impression they made on me, but I learn three great lessons. (1) There is no such thing as luck. Sometimes it is easy to fall into the trap of using ‘luck’ as a reason that individuals succeed. But, luck is where preparation meets opportunity, it is not the absence of hard work. (2) “You can’t out train a bad diet” Diet was a consistent topic of conversation. You need to be fueling your machine with the right things if you want it to work for you. (3) Consistency is key! If you are going to start a workout plan, it is alright to ease into it but be consistent with it! The only way to see changes in your body is to consistently give it challenges and force it to adapt. You don’t have to be a professional athlete, you don’t need major fitness goals and you don’t need a gym to get started. You just need to want to get fit for yourself and make yourself better every day! I’ve made a no-pads needed football workout exclusively for ASC members! I know exactly the day it happened too; the morning that I woke up and decided that I was going to pursue professional football at the highest level for women. It was my 28th birthday and there was something inside of me that wanted more. Professionally, athletically and mentally I wanted more. I announced my dream to my closest friends, found a trainer and started working on the basics. Now, you might assume that I had been a football fan all my life, maybe I played powder puff or flag football in college. That couldn’t be any farther from the truth. I had zero experience. I found the best trainer in town that saw my vision, believed in my dream and we got to work. Pushups 5 sets of 20 reps **modifications: For easier pushups do from your knees.
