Reusable Packaging News September 2017 - Page 20

DS Smith Plastics, part of packaging specialist DS Smith Plc., has announced the opening of a new manufacturing facility in Romeoville, Illinois. The new facility is DS Smith Plastics’ first rigid packaging manufacturing operation in North America. The company already has a North American presence thanks to six flexible packaging manufacturing facilities.

With this new facility, DS Smith Plastics will further enhance its leading and strategic positioning in North America while responding to a growing demand for its rigid packaging products in the U.S.

The new manufacturing operation is expected to start its production in the last quarter of 2017. This investment will result in the creation of new jobs and expansion of DS Smith Plastics’ current rigid packaging offer in North America. This is the seventh rigid packaging extruded products facility that will be dedicated to the production of polypropylene bubble-structure sheets for graphics, sleeves and single-use and reusable packaging for the automotive and pharmaceutical markets.

DS Smith Plastics’ Extruded Products USA will also be exhibiting in the Reusable Packaging Pavilion, located in the Upper South Hall, at booth #S-8203.
