In fact, it’s the new normal: the bulk of job ads placed in the US are now paid for based on the results they achieve, rather than by an upfront cost. It’s a paradigm shift from seven years ago when you could get by just fine with posting an ad for a fixed period, then keeping your fingers crossed that enough applications would roll in. While performance is still in its infancy in Europe, we know that a lot of the HR innovations that get adopted start in the US then migrate to EMEA. The UK, France and the Netherlands have already made moves to embrace performance media and Indeed (a site that climbed to dominance in less than a decade on the back of its performance-based payment model) plans to more than double its Irish workforce in 2018.
