What is digital recruitment and
how is it affecting your hiring
process?
It’s 2017 and the competition to get a job is fiercer
than ever before. Recruiting is not as black and
white as it used to be. Years ago, people knew
where the best companies to work for were, and
would fall in line. These days, however, even the
biggest companies are finding that they might not
be able to get their first-choice candidates.
Why is this?
The answer is simple: digital recruitment.
How digital recruitment affects
your hiring process
This specialised and aggressive way of recruiting
means that businesses have to work harder to at-
tract the ideal candidates. LinkedIn released a
survey explaining why digital recruitment is so easy.
It reported that 70 per cent of the global workforce
is comprised of passive talent — these people aren’t
looking for jobs, but 87 per cent of them are open
to new job opportunities. Those are major percent-
ages that employers can be tapping into.

How digital recruitment works
Recruitment and retainment is a top concern for
most employers these days. Digital recruitment is
mainly responsible for this as it’s incredibly easy for
online recruiters to find an employee profile, match
their skills and experience to their employer and
send a quick message asking for a chat about a
new opportunity. The recruiters use a blend of so-
cial profiles like LinkedIn and HR software that work
simultaneously to seek out these ideal candidates.
This means that while it is easy for businesses to
get new employees, it’s just as easy for prospective
employees to be poached away.
Digital recruitment means that there are going to
be several employers trying to get the same em-
ployee at once.
Almost all businesses are using this technique to find
their next employee, so businesses need to be on
top of replying to inquiries, otherwise a competitor
is going to snap them up. As long as businesses
keep this in mind, digital recruitment can be a major
benefit to their hiring process.
At the end of the day however, digital recruitment
can still only get you so far. Employers and job-
seekers alike need to work with a team comprised
of individuals who are dedicated to you and spe-
cialised in specific industry knowledge. It’s the mar-
riage of digital and human recruitment that brings
satisfied employers and employees together.
