THE INDUSTRY
Location
Crossways Farm Village is South Africa’s first
agri-village – a rural new town outside the
normal city/town limits that offers a lovely mix
of commercial space, a light industrial sector
and a wide range of residential opportunities.
Situated in the Eastern Cape along the N2,
approximately 40km from Port Elizabeth and
about 37km from Jeffrey’s Bay, the estate is
nestled in the foothills of the Baviaanskloof
Mega Reserve, which is a world heritage site
and is in close proximity to the prestigious
Van Stadens Wildflower Reserve as well as the
Garden Route.

Homes
There are a number of residential and mixed-use
options available and home sizes vary between
95m² and 700m². The design of a building
should respond to the environment without any
mechanical intervention and solar water heating
or the use of heat pumps is compulsory in all
homes. On-site waste separation is mandatory
and vermiculture, composting, energy saving
light fittings, water-saving fittings, greywater
recycling and blackwater recycling are all
encouraged. Rainwater harvesting is mandatory
for stands upwards of 500m² and encouraged
for smaller stands. The types of materials used
are also important and local materials and non-
