Residential Dining Residential dining at the UW is refreshingly different from the traditional meal plan programs you may find at other schools. We call it a dining account, and it works like a prepaid debit card that you can use anytime at HFS dining locations on campus. Students who live in most nine-month residences are required to have a dining account and may choose from one of several dining account levels. If you are assigned to 2104 House, Mercer Court Building C or Stevens Court, the dining account is optional. With a Level 1–6 dining account plan, you are eligible to receive a free drink each time you visit the residential dining areas, Local Point and The 8, offering a significant savings to overall meal costs. You’ll also receive a 10% off the purchase of a Husky Meal at Local Point and The 8. The new Husky Meal provides a well-rounded lunch or dinner at a residents-only discount to maximize your dining dollars. With over 40 locations on campus, from our District Market grocery store to our numerous restaurants, cafés, food trucks and even a food court, great food is never more than a two-minute walk away! DINING LEVEL How Your Dining Account Works Your dining account works like a prepaid debit card. You choose the dining account level (Dining Level) that meets your lifestyle needs, and the total amount you pay for your Dining Level is loaded into your dining account at the beginning of each quarter. Each time you make a purchase, the amount of your purchase is deducted from your dining account balance. Your remaining balance is always displayed on the cash register when you make a purchase, so you can easily keep track of your balance. You can also manage your dining account online. Where Your Dining Account is Accepted You can use your dining account at any HFS location and most on-campus vending machines. There are no set meal periods. If the place is open, you can eat there and use your dining account to pay. LEVEL 1 $82 per week LEVEL 2 $92 per week LEVEL 3 $104 per week LEVEL 4 $114 per week LEVEL 5 $139 per week LEVEL 6 $185 per week QUARTERLY PAYMENT Level 1................................................ $867 Level 2................................................ $984 Level 3............................................. $1,103 Level 4............................................. $1,221 Level 5............................................. $1,447 Level 6............................................. $1,940 ACCOUNT BALANCE Your unused account balance rolls over from quarter to quarter until the end of your agreement period (for nine-month residences, this is the end of the academic school year). Dining funds are nonrefundable and nontransferable. We recommend you monitor and adjust your Dining Level each quarter to avoid having balance left over at the end of the year. If you move out before the end of the agreement period, any balance remaining on your account will be available for you to use until the end of your agreement period. CHOOSE YOUR DINING LEVEL The scenarios shown are based upon average transactions and typical customer behavior in UW Dining venues, and are specifically intended as a guide to help you choose a dining plan level. Your spending experience may vary slightly below or above the weekly average depending on your buying decisions. = 1 Residential Dining Visit ($6.50) = 1 Free Drink = 1 District Market Visit ($38) = 1 Coffee ($4) = 1 Food Truck Visit ($6) = 1 Cultivate Restaurant Visit ($12) 10 Discover Your Place at the University of Washington | Residential Application Guide
