PPIE STANDARDS / WHAT’S ON Training update The PPIE team have been working with researchers to hold several training sessions for RUG members to develop knowledge and skills around various aspects of research. Sessions held so far have included; Systematic Reviews; Induction Sessions for new members; Steering Committees; and Evidence Based Practice. Thank you to all who have attended so far. Annual Event Friday, 9th November 2018, Keele Hall For RUG and LINK members, the focus of this year’s event will be on the dissemination of our research All About Arthritis Friday, 12th October, 3.30-7.30pm,Haywood Hospital, Burslem An information day #KeeleINSPIRE - Implementing the New Standards for Public Involvement in Research Environment The new National Standards for Public Involvement were launched this year and the PPIE team are pleased to announce that as a result of our experience and commitment to embedding PPIE in research and implementation, we were successful in our application to be one of the ten test beds in the UK to put the Standards into practice. Care Research. The INSPIRE Project (Implementing the New Standards for Public Involvement in Research Environments) is in partnership with our Research User Group, the NIHR School for Primary Care Research, NIHR Research Design Service West Midlands, and the West Midlands regional public involvement network (PILAR). The project has received matched funding from the NIHR School for Primary Steven Blackburn commented: “As a Research Institute, we undertake a lot of public involvement. We need to ensure that we engage with our RUG members in the best possible way. We look forward to seeing how the standards can improve our current practices and make a difference to future research.” Over 12 months, we will assess the impact of implementing the Standards on improving the quality and visibility of public involvement practices across the Research Institute, ensuring successes and learning are shared with regional and national partners throughout the lifecycle of the project. “In the future, we want the standards to be seen by groups and organisations large and small; public, private and charitable as an essential tool in guiding their public involvement.
