They began thinking of themselves as a service organization intended to support the work of mission at all levels of the Church – congregational, diocesan, and church wide – and in that spirit they began to refer to themselves as the Missionary Society. My experience of these dedicated servants is that is that they give of themselves sacrificially to advance God’s mission in The Episcopal Church. To that end, the Missionary Society, in collaboration with the Executive Council, has sought to implement the mission plan contained in the churchwide budget. This is especially true of the creative initiatives that were a hallmark of the Five Marks of Mission budget: • Mark 1: To Proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom – leveraging churchwide resources with local resources to start new congregations, both traditional and nontraditional, including multicultural and underserved communities • Mark 2: To Teach, Baptize, and Nurture New Believers – advancing Province IX’s plan for self-sustainability and freedom from dependence • Mark 3: To Respond to Human Need by Loving Servic
