10 KITCHEN, POWDER, MAIN FLOOR HARDWOODS 5724 Wild Orchid Trail, Raleigh 27613 after livingstonebuildingcompany.com [email protected] 919-263-1892 after before In this kitchen renovation, the client wanted to refocus a well-loved kitchen area into a space that was more open for the couples’ modern needs. As near empty nesters, a space that had previously served the family well, needed a new life and focus on entertaining guests. The removal of a structural wall, lowering of a raised bar and knee wall, and brighter finishes took the kitchen from small and cozy to bright and welcoming. The more open plan allowed for a large central island to become the star of the kitchen with Calacatta Quartz lending a clean, classic look. Coordinating gray quartz on the perimeter and marble water-jet tiles over the cooktop bring in the on-trend aspects of current kitchen design without looking overly-trendy. A splash of cool color brightens up the break- fast nook, while the coordinating lighting keeps the space unified. The new space feels both elegant and inviting.
