Reloaded Mag Africa Volume 21 | Page 24

People have seen so much disappointments for such a long time that whenever there is something new coming, the levels of expectation are not high anymore.

Yes Capsule Fest on paper looked legit from A – Z, but we must not forget that it was a big weekend in Africa’s most vibrant city, that is Jo’burg. There was another major event happening in SOWETO, and it had established itself as a mega event in Jo’burg, and there were questions in people’s heads whether to remain loyal to the other event, or take their chances with the new event being Capsule Fest. Me personally, Capsule Fest appealed to me, not only because of the international artist, but largely for local line up and the concepts set up.

The two stages worked really well for the venue “Mary Fitzgerald Square”, even though I only went to the other stage once, but it set up good. The main stage was impressive also, but I will come back to that.

I’m a sneaker guy, so when I decided to take a walk around the exhibition stands, I was blown away with all the sneakers that were brought out to be displayed, and how everything was just perfectly exhibited. The NIKE stand was a bit extra special to me because I have a love for tattoos, even though I don’t have any; witnessing a tattoo being done in under 10 minutes, if not 5 minutes was an exciting site to see. Sneaker Lab was another nicely set up stand, as people piled in to get their sneakers cleaned, unfortunately for me I did not get the time to get mine sorted. ADIDAS was not to be left behind, with their house of sneakers that extended to their VIP/Guest Lounge that allowed patrons to relax with either a glass of Jameson or Absolut Vodka; if shopping was that rewarding, I definitely would be a big fan of shopping, but hey, ADIDAS went out to impress and they did.

Now let’s talk about the people who were there. No matter what kind of event it is, it seems like men will never out-dress women, no matter how much we try. This was an event to be as creative as we wanted to be, but hey the women just came out and made sure they had eyes on them at all times. During such painful times for women, were they go through so much abuse and violence, it was good to see them coming out in numbers, dressed as expressively as they wanted, without the fear of being violated, without the fear of being abused; and that is where true beauty came out, and with happy women, we surely have a happy country. So I would like to say “Thank You Capsule Fest For Providing A Safe Environment For Our Ladies To Express Themselves And Have Fun Without Any Fear”
