We sat down with Bridgette Fantisi, who works in the FINANCE/LAW industry to find out more about her tattoos and if they do affect her in any way in her work place.

1. Why did you decide to get inked?

I wanted to get inked just to break out of my shyness, to just encourage myself to come out my shell and prove to myself that it is achievable.

2.Is there a meaning to your tattoos and how many do you plan on having as i heard they can be really addictive and what more would you still wanna ink?

Yes they do. When I made the decision to get a tattoo I knew that I had to get something that I would be happy to see on my body for the rest of my life. So I sat and thought of things that quantity who I am. I am Bridgette Buhlebenkosi Malehlohonolo (aka Hlohlo). What sums up my being? Well what came to mind to me was that I am a Jesus girl, followed by African and Swazi followed by music lover. So my options were to ink something that represents everything that I mentioned above. So the first one I got is the letter B with a music note and the second one was the letter H for Hlohlo with a heart which to me represents Love and love represents Jesus. The next two that I will be getting will be the African continent and iHawu (traditional shield you find on the Swaziland emblem/flag etc.)

3. Some people view tattoos as being part of a gang and that it ruins your chances of landing a distinguished job, whats your take on that?

I think if that was my perception of it I would not have gotten a tattoo. I always hear people around me saying tattoos are better for creatives and people who are in the entertainment business and I disagree with that. I am a Finance/Law professional and how I expressive myself should not be attached to my level of professionalism.

4. Do you think society view women with tattoos the same way they view men with tattoos?

No they do not. Women are always judged harshly because they are expected to be the fairest sex, and the tattoo topic is no different. Women are expected to portray the image of perfection as compared to men that’s why it’s easier to stomach men with tattoos as compared to women with tattoos.
