Medical Records Medical Records - continued The amendments to the medical records provisions of Regulation 1093 amend some of the requirements regarding medical records and stipulate requirements for updating records. The provisions regarding electronic records have been amended to provide greater clarification and guidance with respect to making and maintaining electronic records. Previous Version Amended Version Section 22(1) outlined the information required in respect of the records of each companion animal. Paragraph 1 required “patient identification, including species, age and sex.” Paragraph 7 required “particulars of each assessment, including any laboratory investigations, performed or ordered by the member and the results of each assessment.” The requirements in section 22(1) have a few amendments. Paragraph 1 now requires that records required in respect of each companion animal must contain “animal identification, including species, breed, colour, age and sex.” Paragraph 7 is amended and now requires “Particulars of each assessment, including physical examination data and any diagnostic investigations, performed or ordered by the member and the results of each assessment.” Sections 22(4.1) and 22(4.2) introduce medical records requirements which only apply to members in certain circumstances in which they are exempt from the VCPR requirement. They state: (4.1) A member who provides veterinary services in a temporary facility is not required to keep the information referred to in subsections (1) to (4) in respect of an animal receiving services at the temporary facility but shall maintain records containing the information specified in the certificate of accreditation for the temporary facility in accordance with subsections (5) and (6).
