Written Prescriptions
Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship
The amendments to the Regulation change the requirements for written and oral
prescriptions. The Regulation outlines the criteria for when written and oral prescription are
appropriate, and sets out the information that must be included on a written prescription.
The amendments introduce stipulations regarding the veterinarian-client-patient
relationship, which were previously outlined in College policy, into the Regulation.

Section 26 previously stated that if a member
decides to treat an animal with a drug and
either does not dispense it or is asked by the
owner for a prescription, the member shall
give a written prescription to the owner or
offer to give an oral p
