FIYAH LOCKS F iyah Locks is one of Toronto’s hottest underground artists on the rise. Emerging on the Reggae scene with his positive lyrical ammunition, his focus is to help lead Dancehall back to the musical and spiritual influence of roots Reggae, which is also heavily influenced by Rastafarian beliefs and principles. He was born Richard Sahadeo in Toronto, Canada and was raised in Jane and Finch, one of the toughest and most diverse neighborhoods’ in the city. His experience growing up in the ghetto and witnessing the numerous struggles in the community such as poverty and violence due to lack of opportunity, Fiyah Locks is quickly gaining attention on both the Canadian and International music scene. He is best descri bed as a versatile singjay-style vocalist with a gruff, raspy tone who is capable of rapid fire chanting and powerful, melodic singing. This artist has been steadfast in his mission to represent the poor and oppressed, using sharp lyrics to confront political injustices and bring the issues of the people to the forefront.
