T he Jamaican born Toronto based reggae gospel hall of famer, inked the deal with Groove Gospel Records in January 2017; the Label released her new album Hallelujah Train on May 26, 2017. Dr. Kay Morris is a global humanitarian; she is also known to be the Pioneer of Reggae Gospel Music in Canada. She is nominated for three Canada glass awards in the categories of Artist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Song of the Year - Hallelujah Train Rev. Dr. Kay Morris is a native of Jamaica; she was born in the Parish of Westmoreland and grew up in Montego Bay. She was raised by two Pentecostal Minister Parents. She was exposed to the two most important influences that have guided her life, spiritual faith and the message of music. It would come as little surprise that Kay began her singing career at the tender age of four! Kay has worked tremendously hard in order to explore and celebrate her musical and spiritual roots, which she has fully embraced from Canada, Africa, and Jamaica.? The electrifying and anointed Kay Morris sings with passion, takes over the stage and captivates her audiences, demonstrating her versatility and offering a fresh perspective in a variety of musical styles singing in many festivals, concerts, churches, conventions, forums, and other world class events including the Stellar Awards and Dove Awards sanctioned events. Kay Morris’ music has allowed her to cross religious, cultural, and racial barriers around the world. She has been featured in several magazines and books including the Stanford ‘Who is Who’, ReggaeXclusive Magazine and Planet Africa Magazine. Her music has been featured in several TV sit-coms; as well as she has sang on the soundtrack for the short film “Sleeping Dogs Lie” and has done numerous TV interviews on various networks including BET, Impact Network, Planet Africa TV Network, The Nikki Clarke Show, and she has also appeared and performed in Music City on Dr. Bobby Jones Classics in Nashville, TN. She has opened for many major Gospel artists such as: Kirk September 2016 - Kay’s Royal Ragalia and Attire that she wore during the Parade of The Kings and Queens in Aburi, Ghana W. Africa 2008, is currently on display at the Royal Ontario Museum Exhibition with the Asafo Flags of Ghana the Exhibit in the African Gallery. Franklin, Hesekiah Walker, Ce Ce Winans, John P. Dr. Kay Morris is a multi- faceted persona, functioning in many capacities such as: an Ordained Minister and also an Assistant Pastor at Light and Life Ministries. She holds an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree, Master of Divinity Degree and a Bachelor of Theology Degree from the Canadian Bible College and School of Bible Theology Seminary and University of San Jacinto, California. She is an International Evangelist, an accomplished singer songwriter, Fashion Designer, Mentor, Motivational Speaker, Global Humanitarian, and President of the Kay Morris Foundation. Spanning outward from Kay’s singing, like that of the growing branch from a thriving tree, is her advocacy work as a humanitarian. Her journey to becoming a humanitarian started through her music which preceded her in Africa. She is a world changer and blazing a trail being the Voice of the Voiceless advocating for orphans, people living with HIV/AIDS, maternal health issues, and Malaria prevention in Africa, the Caribbean, South America and other Third World Countries. After brokering $1.5 million in anti- retroviral medicines (ARV’s) for people living with HIV/AIDs in Sub- Saharan Africa September 2006, the King and people of Berekuso, Aquapem Ghana decided to honor Kay Morris for her great humanitarian work and selfless service in Africa; she was enstooled as a Benevolent Queen - Nana Oye Sika I of the Royal House of Berekuso, Ghana. July 2017- Kay Morris was one of the spotlight guest artists at the GMWA 50th Convention where she performed at Gospel At The Hard Rock Cafe; as well as, she performed one of their major youth events in Atlanta, GA May 26, 2017 - New album “Hallelujah Train” was digitally launched globally by Groove Gospel Record Label in Atlanta, Georgia and opened at #29 on the ITunes Gospel Charts. April 2017 - Toured Zimbabwe and carried out a humanitarian mission at the Mahinga Village Orphanage, also ministered at the AFM International Youth Conference to over 200K youths and adults in attendance. February 2017 - Received the prestigious Excellence in Religion Award at the African Canadian Achievement Awards, she was selected by the Board to receive this great honor. January 2017 - Signed a recording and distribution deal with Groove Gospel Records label in Atlanta, GA; also performed on the new TV show Magnify “live” on WATC TV Channel 57 in Atlanta, Georgia. June 2016 - Was invited to Washington DC as one of the artists to perform at the White House organized Afro-Caribbean Gospel Music Explosion in celebration of Caribbean Heritage Month in the US. She was among the list of delegates attending The Third Annual Caribbean & African International Leadership Conference and Awards Gala from June 19th to 24th, 2016 in Washington, DC. Kay was also invited to attend a special White House Reception where she made an appearance as Queen Nana Sika I alongside Spiritual Leaders, Nigerian Yoruba King, Ambassadors, and Congressional Leaders. She represented the Kay Morris Foundation and participated in official legislative events at the US Department of State Office of Religious and Global Affairs; she attended Briefing with President Barack Obama’s Administration at the White House, she attended a Forum at the United States Congress on Capitol Hill and later that evening attended the Democratic Congressional Black Caucus Reception Party. June 2015 - Was honored by the Black Canadian Awards for “Role Model 2015” and was inducted in the Role Model Wall of Fame. Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada congratulated her for her Diversity advancement achievement. May 2015 – Was selected by Canadian International Black Women Event as one of the 100 Black Women to Watch in Canada 2015.
