W
ith more than 30 shows lined
up on the US West coast
between August and October, the
Legendary Reggae Band Black
Uhuru fills up every venue and
delivers show after show. With
songs like “Solidarity”, “Africa” and
“What is Life”; Andrew Bees, Duckie
Simpson and Elsa Green know how
to lift a Reggae Party to a higher
level. When the crowd is satisfied,
the promoters are happy and the
reviews are great, you can state
that Black Uhuru still got what it
takes to be on top and climbing
musical Heights like never before.
With the words from Carib Press
news channel: “Soul stirring
performance by Black Uhuru in the
Belly -Up. The state of Black Uhuru
is strong, very strong!” The
Grammy Award winning Reggae
Band continues on their journey
with about 20 more shows lined up,
leaving cities like San Diego, San
Francisco , Seattle, Santa Cruz,
San Ana , Palm Desert and Mill
Valley more than satisfied.
While Opening act Onesty is new to
the US reggae scene, she has been
wowing the audience with her
strong, energetic
performances,
bringing songs like “I Rise”, “Hold
on” and “Roll the Dice” to a higher
level. More is to be expected from
the Belgian singer that has her
debut album release in the line up.
Tyrical the Lyricist is about to make
his own statement in Jamaica. He is
presently blowing up the airways
with songs like “I Can’t Believe”,
“Beauty Shop” and “Money Nuff”.
Look out for these hits for
Christmas.
The Artiste Biggaton is on tour in
China, his first show kicked off on
September 10th. Look out for
Empress Tashai aka Glamma T as
she releases her new song called
“Gangster Love”.
MONTREAL
INTERNATIONAL
REGGAE FESTIVAL
2016
By: Brian Kotler
T
his 13th edition followed in the
footsteps of the previous ones,
a block buster line-up with nuff
energy, hype and vibes, proving
once again to be the best Reggae
Festival in Canada if not in all of
North America. Opening with a
special Sound System Segment
and then with the sweet voice of
Cocoa Tea to close off the first
night. Dancehall ruled on Saturday
with Spragga Benz, Elephant Man
and more, not to mention Mavado,
whom his fans have been waiting
for years to see closed the night.
Back to reggae on Sunday with the
return of Sanchez and for his first
appearance at MIRF, Barrington
Levy closed off the night and
festival. Not to mention the many
sound systems from across
Canada, Jamaica, Europe and
even Japan, and several of our
Canadian artists like Vern
Maytone, Chelsea Stewart and
Miss Diva. Along with fantastic
weather and a great attendance,
MIRF made history again! Nuff
respect to the promoter, artists and
most of all the people all went
home with smiles.
