hiding the smaller appliances from view. The clients requested details such as no handles, spot lighting and a boiling water tap which were easy to accommodate and supplied by Cookhaus, the Kitchen Designers on the project. The most challenging part of the design was to incorporate a ground floor WC and a large separate washer and dryer, but the reconfiguration and movement of the electricity metre from under the stairs allowed us to place the WC there with a sliding door to not interrupt the flow of the hallway. Floor to roof cabinetry include the washer and dryer to be hidden from guests socialising in the space. Glazing was an integral part of the project to incorporate more light. With an aluminium glass panelled roof and aluminium sliding doors at the rear, this allows natural light to filtrate the new and existing space. The client wished for the sliding doors to feature across the full length of the room, but this was shortened slightly to allow a cat-flap for their cat which didn’t cut through the glazing, which was supplied by 1st Folding Sliding Doors. Choosing white as the dominant colour with pops of blue furniture and a prominent art feature created the perfect contemporary home for daily family life.
