One of the key features of this property was its exposed brick walls. However on the ground floor flat these had been painted white, so to reveal the natural colours of the brickwork and create unity between the two floors, one of the first tasks was the stripping back of the paint downstairs to reveal the earthy-toned brickwork underneath. The brickwork backdrop lent itself to the incorporation of industrial nods, with exposed ceiling beams, a stainless steel worktop and Edison lightbulb fixtures. While the design was kept fresh and bright, with light linen fabrics, off-white walls and ash flooring. There was a fairly large joinery brief, with bespoke kitchen units, dining table, and bench seating with storage drawers on the ground floor. In the first floor office, we added a bespoke desk, built-in wine fridge and boiling water tap. For the furnishings, we were looking for timeless designs to provide comfort and warmth. There was no room for products that look good but compromise on quality. The bed is Matthew Hilton, the glass pendants over the dining table are by Old School Electric (supplied by Heals) and the fabric used to upholster the bespoke seating in the dining area is a Heals own-brand linen. Bathroom fittings were supplied by Aston Matthews and appliances are all Miele. Vintage pieces were added to bring warmth and charm. The result is an elegant and calming home that embraces natural materials together with luxurious touches. 46 - www.refurbandrestore.co.uk
